Practical Driving Test

Before applying for your driving test, you must possess a valid Theory Certificate

The DSA practical test lasts for around 40 minutes and normally takes place on a route covering a wide variety of traffic and road conditions (except motorway).

After checks on documentation, you are given an eyesight test (usually reading a number plate at the set distance) followed by two questions selected from the bank of show me / tell me questions (published by DSA)

Your actual drive will then commence with route directions given by your examiner. The examiner will give you a short briefing as to how the drive will be undertaken and will also give you clear directions in plenty of time.

You will be asked to perform 2 manoeuvres chosen typically from .... Turn In The Road, Parallel Parking, Reverse Bay Parking, Left Reverse. You may also be asked to perform a Controlled Stop (sometimes referred to as emergency stop). This is done at random and is not performed on all tests.

Selection of your Practical Test Date should be done in agreement with your instructor who will normally make the booking on your behalf.
